Lots of problems, all related to the computer, I think ?
I have a 2001 Dakota, V6 auto, 2wd, and am having numerous problems,
Check engine light is on all the time.
I can not get my codes, on-off, on-off, on nothing happens.
I tried disconecting the neg. terminal and holding on start for 15 seconds, still nothing.
It will not start without putting a little gas down the throttle body, then it runs fine.
Does not charge according to the amp meter. All other guages work OK
After it is running for a couple of minutes, the check guages light comes on and the amp meter goes from discharge to the off position.
Gear selector indicator keeps searching.
Transmissiondoes not have 1st and 2nd gear, in3rd gear all the time.
I would have to think these are all computer related, but I don't know where to look first. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

RE: Lots of problems, all related to the computer, I think ?
well on a 2001.. your not going to get the on off on off to get the codes.. you need to use a scanner.. take it up to auto zone to have them check it for ya.. they do it free... as far as the amp meter and the transmission goes.. make sure you havent knocked off a ground.. and i would check the fuel pressure for proper pressure on the fuel issue.. it doesnt sound like computer related issue.. i would check those things before taking it to the dealer
