My truck started smoking the other day and i'm not sure why, it is a white smoke with a bluish tint. When I put my hand under my dump-tips after first starting it in the morning, it was a brownish looking tint. I checked my oil for gas or antifreeze, but did not see anything. I was thinking it could be a blown head gasket or head? any help please....MY TRUCK SMOKES LIKE UNCLE BUCKS CAR!!!

 

Maybe a intake gasket failure as well. Take a look at the plugs and see if they are showing any sign of water. Good luck.

 

mine smokes too...but after about a week, it stopped...
according to the gauges, it is always overheating, and has no oil pressure.

 

I checked one plug today and it looked ok, I need to check the others, but There is dirt caked around the spark plug so i have to scrape it very carefully with a flathead and then blow it out just so i can get the socket over the plug...very tedeous!! I will check the rest of them but i'm not sure what it is...it usually quits smoking when i drive around for about 5 minutes, but when i park it and let it idle it smokes, and it also smokes a lot when you start it, no matter if it is warm or cold. Any more suggestions please

 

Well, I am taking my truck to the shop to have it fixed today. My best guess is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. I filled the radiator up day before yesterday, and today it was down so far that I couldn't even see any fluid(it started running very hot when I was stopped at lights, then would cool down once I started moving)...I do not have the time or tools to take the heads off myself, so I am hoping I can find a worthy mechanic to do it for me, I am afraid of how much it will cost, but at least it will be fixed for a while!?

 

I guess this has become a thread talking to myself, but it gives me some time to vent!!! Got a call from the guy working on my truck and he said that both heads were cracked...i was hoping that it would just be the head gaskets, but that's just my luck with this truck.....i bought it in '01 from my grandpa who bought it new in'94 with 93k miles on it and now it has 150k miles on it...i guess it is alright but i paid 10k for it and now after this....it will bring all the maintenance totals i have spent up to about 8k....i never thought i would own a 20k dollar truck, but now i do...i'm glad though cuz now it gives me another reason to keep it! I do like not having a truck payment, but all the problems are driving me crazy. It seems like something goes wrong every week! I have had more problems with it since i have stopped beating the crap out of it off-road....guess i figured it would last longer if i was a lot easier on it, and i guess this is its way of telling me it want to be in the mud and wants me to drive it like it was made to be driven...no more taking it easy for me!!
