Heater core change

Chilton's says the whole dash has to come out to change out the heater core in a 98 1500 4X4....Is it true or is there a trick

I have never done a heater core that they did not jam way up in the console. I can't tell you for a fact, but I would bet on it.

It's really not that bad to pull the dash out.You have to pull it out to change out the heater core,though.
