1998 dodge ram. runs like crap on start up
Hi,
i have a 98 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 318 and 131,000 miles. When the truck gets cold it take a while to crank. no much longer then normal. but when it first fires up and you put it rightin gear and go, it bogs, dont want to go anywhere and sometimes you can hear it through the exhaust., but doesnt act like a miss?after a min or 2 when warm, it runs perfect, dont miss a beat and it gets good gas milage. let it set of over 30 min. starts all over again. it has new plugs, k&n, fuel filter, always run good shell gas and treatment. Im new to the dodge world and dont know where to start. It the cleanest 98 4x4 i have seen in the midwest area around me, but need to work alittle bugs out. not a leak of anything or any rust. but this and my front end clunk got me baffled.
ALSO no codes or lights what so ever.though maybe a 02 or clogged converter, but only does this when it is cold...
please email me at a100dork3@yahoo.com as for i wont be able to check this much. nice cite. thank you for your help and time.

sounds to me like the computer might need to be flashed.. sounds like timing to me.. timing should be computer controlled.. if its a hair off.. it will act like this..
I don't know a lot about the 318 but if it's fuel injected it could be a leaking fuel injector. It bogs on cold start because it sat for awhile causing excess fuel to build up and run rich. Good luck
