I have a 2000 Dakota. The doors won't open. I use the key ring gadget to open unlock the doors ... the locks flip ... but the doors won't unlock. Tried using the key ... no luck. Using the keyring gadget to open the doors ... I hear a buzzing noise. My guess is the battery in the gadget is broke. Doesn't explain why my key doesn't work. I'm glad I don't need to go to work today. Help? Suggestions. Thanks

 

This is probably a dumb question but did you try the key in both doors?

I tried both doors. What I did in the short term is I had AAA come out and pop the door and I took the fuse out for the power locks. That fixed the problem short term. The guy from AAA didn't have a idea why the doors locks were "freezing." Use the remote the doors would "buzz" when I tried to unlock and lock the doors.

I'm scheduled our local dealer Tuesday. If anyone has an idea of why the truck is doing what it's doing ... I'd be curious. Thanks.

 

I figured you had tried both doors but I had to ask the obvious question. I have overlooked the basics before, such as panicing when I couldn't find the remote for the TV! All I had to do was push the button on the TV to turn it on but that never crossed my mind. [sm=icon_beat.gif]

 

Common problem, the plastic actuator gears in the lock/latch mechanism are jammed. You will need to replace the door latches.
