Ok guys I have a 94 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9 . It is sputtering bad,it goes in and out when I push the accelerator, and sometimes poofs of smoke come out the back. It felt like to me the distributor cap was cracked, that kind of feel to it. But I did a complete tune up and it is still there. I push the gas and da da da,clears up, then da da da again. I have been told it is either the cat or the egr valve. I can do process of illimination here but I was hoping one of you guys have ran into this so I could save alot of money. Also, it is throwing zero codes. Thanks in advance.

 

unbolt exhaust from manifold.. and seperate.. and run the truck.. gonna be loud as hell.. but see if it clears up and runs better.. theres your process of elimination
