Default Diesel car ?

I am looking for a diesel SUV/ estate car, must be American made. I have a petrol engine Durango and would like something similar with a diesel engine. I move gear and people around sometimes, it is a useful vehical. I will buy a used truck/car, I have heard of a big GMC from the 1990s although have not seen one. If I have to buy a pickup I will but a Durango like SUV will be more useful.

I've got a Defender and a DiscoveryII ... The DII needs to be a diesel ... at 15 MPG and premium it costs WAY too much to daily drive

My 110 is pre Defender, I get about 25 or 27 mpg from its 2.5 TD engine.
We had a car in England called an Avenger, what a duff lemon !
I am looking at importing my Landy, probably ro ro, looking into prices.

I thought about trying to get a diesel motor imported and swapped into the Defender ,but the DII looks like it'd be VERY hard to adapt the diesel to ...

I had one of the very first cummins diesel rams in my area ...It was used to tow a race car all over the country , with good maintenance and three clutches it was traded in with 375,000
The guy that bought it was at 500,000

I wouldnt bother trying to put a diesel in yours, petrol exhaust would have to be junked, wiring, different dash, diesel plumbing. You would be better off just buying a diesel Landy and shipping it here. You would need something like a Frog one, Brits are right hookers. I will check them out next time I pop over to England.
