2001 Dodge 2500 Quad Turbo Diesel Steering
My truck has 37,000 miles. I just had it in the shop for steering problems. The problem I was having, is during driving at any speed, the truck required constant steering adjustments to keep it going straight. After the Dodge tech returned from the test drive. I was told that the power steering gearbox was binding. Then after he checked out the rest of the steering components. He found that all of the upper and lower ball joints and all of the tierod ends were at max wear limits. These were all replaced under my extended warranty. I would like to know if anyone else has had this kind of problem with such low (hiway) miles?
Another problem I am noticing is a vibration from the engine (or transmission) at any eng RPM, in gear or in park. This vibration is of a level to cause hands and feet to buzz.
Any clues?

there is a ball joint problem with the 4x4's even at the mileage you have. if there is going to be a recall on it I dont know, but there should. I have read where others have taken their truck in for the ball joint problem and the service people said there was some allowable play in them. . .my comment. . .BS. . .there should be zero play.
now, some people have gone on their own and swaped to a different ball joint and no longer have these problems.
another problem that has arose lately has been with the front driveshaft. if you start getting the 70mph shudder then the stealer should either have the shafts reballanced, or get you new ones.
the engine vibration is new to me, I havent head anything about that yet
hope this helps a bit
