Default Bad engine?

Hello there. I have a 2000 Intrepid with the small V-6....1.8? 1.9? Not sure. I've been told that this is a pretty weak engine and I can only expect 90-100,000 miles before it dumps. Is this the general rep that this engine has? My car has 80K on it and I service it regularly. Thanks to all!

The smallest engine available for any Intrepid was the 2.7. it was available in late 2000 I beleive and has a life expectency of no where near what an engine should last. they have huge sludge issues. Check the wrecking yards, there is such a demand even used engines with 50K sell for 3-4K. The Mopar engine comes in at just under 6K (for a reman).

Might be time to switch to a bigger motor. For that type of money, you could get a parts car with a smashed rear or somethin. Other than that drive it till it dies.
