i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500...and i few months ago, the rod that connects to the upper latch fell out, and i cant open the hood of my truck. It pops when i pull the hood latch, but it sticks after that. My friend was able to open it with a screw driver...but i reciently dropped my phone in the water and i have no clue how to open it again. I know i have to pull a cable or somehting, but i dont know where to find anything...can anyone help me? Pictures would help the best....cus im retarded

 

If you have a small crowbar you can use the forked end to twist the hood cable if you can get at it. Just get the cable in between the two forks and I think if you twist it to the right it should open the latch.

I know this method from my vehicle extrication classes from when I was a volunteer fireman. Seemed to work pretty well just be careful to not bend the cable too out of shape or to scratch things up.
