1998.5 Cummins Deisel. New Rad, New Water Pump, New Thermostat, New Fan Clutch. The stupid thing still overheats in overdrive when I pull my camper. When I take it out of overdrive it cools right back down to about 220 (just out of the red) it runs a little warm when I'm not towing anything.

Does anyone know what might be causing the problem? Do these things have temp guage sensors or sensors on the tranny that could casue this? I'm not sure it's not just my guage reading wrong.....I'm at my wits end now!!

check the lower rad hose, sometimes the spring rusts out. this lets the hose collapse. the lower hose is under vaccunm,, and will collapse if it doesnt have a spring in it. good luck

 

I would check to see if the head gasket is ok If you have not done so yet also.
