Default Paint Help

I just purchased a 2002 Neon SE. I am currently in Germany at this time. I previously owned a 1999 Neon Expresso. I had excellent luck with the vehicle. I currently have a problem with my new car. The prior owner tried painting the dashboard. What would be the best way to remove the paint without damaging the original dash? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

You might be able to get it off with WD40. I have noticed that if you get paint on yourself it removes the paint, it just might take it off the plastic. And WD40 won't harm or damage the plastic at all.

I had a similar problem with former car. Soft Soap w/o Bleach worked well. It had a mild abrasive and as long as you don't rub to hard it could help.

I talked with the prior owner and he said that he used exterior car paint on the interior. I have tried just a gentle scratching and it doesn't even marr the paint. I will definitely try the WD40 and soap. Thanks for the advice I am will keep posting what works and what doesn't.

if worse comes to worse, you might be able to find a used dashboard in
perfect shape on ebay or from the factory, or something like that.

It turns out that the nail polish remover worked for the most part. I was unable to totally remove the silver. There was parts where the silver staying in the gruves. I tried the gentle soap and WD40, but unfortunately they were unsuccessful also. So as a last resort I was forced to repaint the doors. I still need to apply a second coat to the driver's door, but otherwise that seems to have worked. It doesn't look perfect, but it looks 100% better. I have removed all the silver from within the car, but decided to leave the blue. All in all it doesn't look half bad now. Thanks for all the help.
