oil pressure reading 0 at idle.....
I have a 99 Ram 2500 w/ 5.9L Magnum.....Has about 70 thou on it.....I have been deployed to Iraq for 15 months and the truck has rarely been driven while I have been gone.....My issue is when the truck was started for the first time in about 2 weeks the oil pressure dropped to 0 at idle when the motor got warm.....Now I havent even started troubleshooting yet.....I changed the oil figuring the filter might have been plugged up....That didnt work.....From sitting for awhile maybe the sending unit went bad or one of the many serious problems may have occured.....Where should I start?

1. is the gauge right?
2 does the pressure come up with the rpm? if it does thats not to bad.
3 are the other gauges ok?
4 check the gauge voltage reg, that new of truck my not have one

yes the pressure rises with rpm......i dropped the pan to check it out and the pickup tube wasnt clogged but there was a few metal shavings in the screen.....do you think i have a major problem here? i still havent started it up with the new pump and sending unit on yet....as soon as it stops raining here i will be able to get out and put it back together and find out....
