Default flashing engine light

this is a general question(remember i drive a 04 silverado ss, my dad has the hemi sport) anyways, its about my ss. hopefully one of you mechs out there can help me out, as my dad is thinking of doing the same thing, and i dont want him to do it if he has the problem i have.

i recently gutted my cats and ripped off the mufflers. iam running a 2.5 inch exaust setup with a custom x pipe. other mods are k and n intake and a tuned pcm. my problem is that when driving at around 40-50 mph, my engine light will start flashing at me for about 30 seconds or so. this happens randomly at these speeds. i cant get the code read becasue my pcm doesnt store the codes. do you think it might be happening because of an extremely free flowing exhaust setup that i have making my truck run too lean. any help i would really appreciate. thanks.

Default RE: flashing engine light

All I can tell you is that in my Crown Vic, whenever I get a flashing engine light, it's a misfire. Without your pcm storing the code, it's hard to figure. Check your plugwires...
