Parking/emergency brake

Default Parking/emergency brake

alright, i tried to get rid of the brake light. i decided the set the emergency brake and now i can't seem to disengage the stupid thing. i pull the brake release and nothing. so now i have the lights and a set brake. any help with this would be very appreciated. thanks

tnmnone, where do you live? i mean is it cold there? if so, you might have frozen "shut" your brakepads or parking brake cabling - in some cases, depending on the constuction of the system it may be possible. If so; no worry: just runthe engine for 10 minutes to warm it up or {despite the brake) drive few feet. worse case scenario would be if the cable or 'recoil'(not sure of real name for this part) sping slipped off. wish you luck.

i just found your first post. forget what i wrote - it obviously doesn't apply to your situation. i'm afraid you may have some more serios problem with electrical system.

sounds like the cable is rusted, that happens with autos alot cause you don't use it that much

Had that happen on a Ford I had, one time.
If you live where the roads are salted & sanded, that crap will work its way down into the cable and lock it up. Might be time to replace the cable.
