Default Motor Identification, How do I?

I own a 1969 charger SE. I pulled the motor and I only have my limited knowledge and the sellers word of what it is. Where can I go to look up the block number to make sure it is what I think it is?

The motor falls into the catagory of 1966-1972 440 like I thought but how do I determine what year? The block shows that it was made in 1967 which supports my thought of it being a 68 rt motor. The blocks would of most likely been built late the previous year. Does the eighth digit tell me the year. The first seven gave me my motor info. I have it narrowed between 67 and 68. Thanks in advance.

I know on the smallblock engines it has a date and a little clock casting thing on the lower section of the block. I think I remember reading that the BB engines were the same.

I'll have to check the block again, it's at my old mans garage. I remember a 1967 date but I was told that it is a 68 RT440. Just curious while I have your attention. Who seems to be the best company to buy performance parts from? I'm partial to Jegs just because they are in the same town.

I've like Jegs, especially since they are running a MoPar NHRA Pro Stocker now. Summit racing, Mancini, Bouchellon Performance. I've had good dealings with all of them.
