Default drive belts...

I have to soon replace my drive belts in my 2001 dodge neon. I was wondering if anyone knew the type of cost that would be so i know exactly how much i need to spend?
is it better to go to dealership or a mechanic?

thanks

It shouldn't be too hard there should be a sticker under the hood. Your engine may be transverse in your car. (Sideways). That may make it a little harder to get to. My belt is around $30, but yours may not be that much. I have an extremely long one. I assume you have a/c in your car. If you don't, the person at the parts store will need to know to make sure you end up with the correct belt for your engine size and accessories. If you have a friend that's pretty mechanical, they can install it with no trouble. Or, maybe Autozone or Advance might install it for free... ya never know! Hope this helps.

I'm taking mine to the dealership to be done, I've replaced one and cannot get enough tension on it to keep it from squealing when I turn the A/C on. I'll let them take care of that nightmare.[sm=smiley36.gif]

Hey All, does that diagram include where the belt tensioner is?

Thanks!

It should, but most, if not all, Neons use V-belts and not serpentine so they do not have a belt tensioner.[sm=smiley2.gif]
