We started to replace a water pump in my 2001 Dodge 1500 tonight and unlike Ford or Chevrolet, the fan assembly looks a lot different. The fan had four bolts that released the blades but the nose had something that looked like a spiral clip of some sort. Does anyone know how this comes off? Does it take a special tool?
I am sure there is some secret to this but not sure what it is. HELP!

 

hello you need a clutch fan wrench that fits on the big nut on the water pump the four bolts you took off seperate the fan blade and the clutch you need to take it apart at the water pump. good luck
