0PSI OIL PRESSURE BAD MAIN BEARINGS???
Like Tons of other dodge durango owners I am having my 0PSI problem.. I was driving down the highway and to my suprize the check gauges light came on and I noticed 0 PSI oil pressure! Anyway had it towed to a shop here in my town. After looking on the Internet for a few hours I cam across thousands of cases of this 0psi and sludge in these motors. The shop calls me a few days later and I tell them about this "sludge problem that these motors have.. They told me. "you don't have any sludge in your oil pan we checked! oil pump is fine" Your main bearing are bad. They said when the main bearings heat up it thins the oil out to a point were it loses Pressure. Why I don't think this is the case.
A. When I first start the car it has 0 Psi Oil pressure and I have to wait about 3 sec and it will pop about 40 Psi.
B. After I drive the car for about 15 Minuites the PSI drops very slow. Then finely goes to zero.
ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE GREAT. P.S. They put 20/50 weight oil in my car and said that it would keep my pressure up just fine and that I need to get rid of the car. This is my only family car and would like to keep it. PLEASE help! Thanks Jacque Thompson[sm=boohoo.gif] You can email me at 918hatch@***.net

Im a newb for the forum.. Im not on the computer alot But would LOVE some help.. Im not trying to get taking for 2500.00 Thats how much they said it would cost for new main bearings.
The only for sure way to check the oil pressure is to ensure you test it with a manual gauge. Like one person said, it could just be the sending unit. Could also be a bad pump. Main bearings going bad is usually associated with low to no oil pressure. Very seldom to bearings just wear out on their own, something causes them to wear out.

Seriously, oil pressure is controlled with the cam bearings, just like a Ford engine. Look at a schematic of the oil system, cam gallery is the first place oil goes too.
If your 0 PSI oil pressure is a new thing that just started, did it just happen after you changed oil? There is a pressure relief valve built into the oil filter, just like Ford. If it bypasses, it may not seat fully, resulting in 0 pressure.
Otherwise, it sounds like your oil pump is just bypassing & not pumping it as it should. Might just be a $5.00 fix with a new oil filter.
