Squeaky leaf springs
I've got some squeaking coming from my rear end as I drive. I beleive it's my leaf spring bushings. Does anyone know of any websites that might help me assess them and replace them as necessary?
Also, my check engine light has been on for quite a while. I had someone tell me once that it was an overspeed issue or something and that there was really nothing wrong. I have reset the light, but it still comes on, so that makes me think there is actually an issue that needs to be addressed. Does anybody know if there is some type of software & hardware interface available so I can hook into my truck with my laptop? I am trying to find something fairly inexpensive.
The truck is a 98 Dakota 2WD SLT.
Thanks,
Andy

i'm new on here, but just thought i'd tell you what i do for squeaky leaf springs. my father was a mechanic from the early 40's to the
early 80's and he had this neat tool that i still use today. it's a leaf spring greaser. you jack up the bumper to drop the suspension, tap in the chisel shaped tool, which has a grease fitting on the end and give it a shot of grease. after you do it a few times, you know how much grease to use. i find that synthetic works the best i have no idea if you can get these today, but it's a cool tool.
