I own a 1995 Dodge Ram Van. Over the past few months I have had intermittant problems starting the van which is corrected by moving the transmission from PARK to DRIVE and back again. This has happened more and more frequently. This evening the same thing has happened but this time I cannot get it started at all. Is there a switch in the column that can wear out?

 

I am not 100% sure where it is located, but it sounds like a neutral safety switch is bad or misaligned. Does the indicator show the right gears?
