Default tuner software?

what type of tuner software is availible for dodge trucks?
my boss has a 98 ram 1500 with the 318, he was looking into the hpp's but i suggested software and cable may be a cheaper way to go and be able to do more..

so what's out there? what type of computer do they use? schematics for wiring?

opps, or do they use burned chips???
he mainly wants to change shift points.

thanks,

Default RE: tuner software?

Actually, you have a couple of choices. You could go with a chip, Hypertech, or superchips make chips for that truck. Supposedly they are supposed to change the shift points, ignition timing, air fuel ratio etc... and are supposed to add anywhere between 5 to 25 horsepower. they usually run between $100 to $250 depending on what type of chip you use. Or you could use a power tuner, they plug into the access port under the dash of the truck, and you just answer simple yes or no questions and change what you want. such as shift points, power, rev limits, etc... they are a little more expensive, but you can do alot more with them.
