Fuel Pump Problems on Dodge Rams?
Hey, I had my fuel pump crap out on me this past summer... I took it to my mechanic and he told me that Dodge Rams are known to have fuel pump problems! He tipped me off, sayin the only way to make sure a dodge ram fuel pump doesnt ever crap out on you is to make sure u keep the tank at least half full! the fuel pump is 1 expensive job... cost me about 550 dollars, due to the fact that they have to syphon out my gas, and lower the whole tank to work on the pump! So, anyone ever heard of fuel pumps being a problem in Dodge rams? I am not sure quite why that is.. but I know that its an ugly job to have to get done.. I would have much rather spent the money on some new tires or an engine component or something fun!

ya, my truck is a 97 sport ... It had about 76 K when it went! Damn, I guess my mechanic wasnt as clever as u dodgemech! oh well, whats done is done... BUT while we are on the subject.. WHATS UP WITH THESE gas prices... I mean. I like to put 93 octane in my tank.. I simply CAN NOT afford to anymore!

mient at 81000 miles. i did it myself and the guage must have been a little off. i thought i was mostlt outa gas. i was really wrong and with a plastic tank with only 1 jack in the middle, i thought it was going to bend in half. its not a bad change out if you pull the bed. i have heard alot about the fuel pump probs, must be a waek link

Modified flat-rate here. Have you ever tried to lower a 26-gallon tank full of fuel by yourself? Much easier to stick a pole stand in the center of the bed toward the front btween the prop shaft and muffler, loosen the 2 rear bed bolts, remove the rest, disconnect the fill tube and lower the truck. It tips the bed back like a dump truck.
