Durango's 2005: Cruise Control & Tow/Hawl relation

Hi,
This is my first post here so here I go:
I just got a new Durango'05 SLT (4.7L engine) with the Family Package (DVD player and so..). My Family and I are very happy with the roomie interior and confortable riding.
My question is: I noticed that if I leave the cruise control working and activate the Tow/Hawl button the transmission keep changing gears as in normal operation. If I cancel the cruise control then the transmission keeps the 4th gear longer than usual, as I understand, in the correct way.
Is all this behavior normal?
Thanks!

I have to say that towing with the cruise control on may not be the best idea.
I pulled a 30 foot camper about 4 000 miles last year;
and I had better MPG and less RPM spikes when I decided to not use cruise contol.
I was going to pull it 8 000 miles next year,
but if the gas prices don't come down I may have to rough it and take the tiny pop-up instead.
