What, if you have water in the tank, it was not from the station. They have water separaters. If you got a half a tank of water the garage is lying to you or someone put a garden hose in your gas tank.

It is very possible the water came from the station and it happens very regular. We have seen them towed in the shop after just filling up, with a half tank of water and the gas station pay the service bill to clean it out.

Not saying it does not happen, but it is rare, and very rare at that. I would bet that most of them come form small, off brand stations. I am not saying it can't happen, gas will float on water, now I assume, and it is that, that they secured the fill cap when the truck dropped. Mistakes do happen and can't be predicted. But other than a leak in the tank or water leaking in from the drop cover, its very unlikely and most certainly random.

water is always in fuel tanks. It can enter in many ways condensation, from the air due to atmospheric pressure, leaks in the tank...ect. the reason you don't see it very often is it takes time for it to build up. Most tanks are actualy filled from the bottom of the tank and even though the fuel pumped to your car is from well of the bottom if a delivery has been made just recently the force of the fill can cause the two to mix. If there is enough moisture in the tank and it has been stirred up then there is a chance of you getting a good sized dose of water.

oil and water can mix.

Hello,
Last year we had a local station who had water in their underground tank(s).
The owner made good on his comittment to all customers who experienced problems(mostly gas tank sending unit failures)or performance issues.
The ONLY catch was you needed to produce a sales receipt for gas purchased at that station during a specific period of time.
How many people actually keep their receipts when paying cash? I do now...a least until my next fill-up.
Also, with that owner talking responsibility for the problems, customers have gained their trust with him and his business has sinced doubled.

My car needed it's tank pulled, cleaned, lines fluushed and new sending unit installed. it would have cost me $600.00USD easy.
Oh did I mention, a re-fill-up also....

THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKING RESPONSIBILITY!

a loyal customer....
