ABS Brakes
A diagnostic was done and dealer said it was relay, 170.00 for that, then they said it was the recall part on the pump, but then said it was switch and would be more $$$$$$$. I went and got van and brought home, rode it a week or so using both feet on the brake then the system started working again, but you could hear pump each time you used brakes, worked for about a month and again yesterday both the abs and brake light came on as before. good van, want to keep
What you really need to do is have someone get the codes of the compter for the ABS. That would be the cheapest and best place to start. Did the dealer tell you about any error codes that they retrieved?
It sounds like all you need is an accumulator. A good way to test it is, let the pump run until it shuts off. Press the brake pedal one time. If the pump turns on again than the accumulator is not storing enough fluid. A good system will general get three pedal pumps before pump motor starts again. If the motor is running all the time and never shuts off, than you probably have a failed switch. This bendix 10 brake system is not the best system dodge used to say the least, but it will probably be cheaper to repair than to try to bypass it.
By the way, if you try to work on this system, make sure you pump the pedal until all the pressure is relieved. This system holds 2000 p.s.i.
