if im not mistaken you will need to replace your cat. dodge has come out with a new cat warranty on some models. seen it the other day but dont actually remember which ones. would call and find out if i were you. you could get it replaced for free

I had the same problem about 4 months ago, and i had to get cat. converter replaced. And i believe the new warranty is 80000 miles for all vehicles

I've saw this code often. 70% of the time its the cat, but sometimes it is caused by the O2 sensors. There is extended warrenty on all mopar cats so asking your local dealer if it is still in warrenty is a good idea.

hey guys need some help... my dakota has been running great but using alot of gas. 13 miles to a gal. it has a little 2.5 four cyl. in it. the check engine light comes on about every other week. code po420. the thing is that his has never happened before until i had to get a new computer for my truck cause the old one junked out on me. it use to get great gas mileage. then after i got a new computer they had to reprgram it cause they had a recall on it saying that it had the wrong os system on it. that when it all started. the truck has a new cat on it and a new muffler. it has a new o2 sensor on it and new throttle position sensor on it. everything is keeped up. the exhaust manifold has little cracks in it but they been there for about 3 years. and the new computer has been on there for only a year. what could be causing the PO420 code?
