Can anyone tell me if I can use the manual 5 speed from a 96 pickup on a 70's 340? Will there be problems with pilot bearing/bushing or anything else? Thanks.

 

i dont think so...the magnum block should be a differing bolt pattern. ask mopartood, or dodgemech

 

The late model "Magnum" engines are unique to themselves. I would call Keisler with your needs. He spends all his day figuring out what needs to be done retro newer transmissions into older muscle.

 

I'm pretty sure they will bolt up together, since the Magnum Crate motor doesn't require a newer tranny when put in an old car. The only thing I can think of that you would need to watch out for is the input shaft diameter. There are several bushings that fit into the end of the crank that can be changed to adapt the shaft. The magnums have the same bell pattern as LAs, even the 4.7 has that bolt pattern. youi start running into flywheel differences though.
