Default No alarm???

I am the proud new owner of a 2004 1500 4x4. I have been very pleased with my purchase so far except for one thing... I had assumed that nearly all new vehicles, (except for commercial/base vehicles), came with a simple but nevertheless functional alarm system (Perhaps my assumptions were tainted following the ownership of an Acura RL and an Infiniti FX45). My truck has the keyless entry of course but not even the simple "open the door, horn honk system". Does anyone have any input/suggestions? Would it be worth to hunt down a Dodge OEM alarm? What is the cost? Should I just settle and purchase some aftermarket alarm from the local stereo shop? I will be the first to call myself a little ‘obsessive compulsive’, but I just like keeping my gear together…. A Dodge key and Dodge alarm remote for a Dodge truck.

I know we got a lot of complaints that the factory alarm was not equipped with remote start!
You'd have to call around your area but if Mobile Electronics is in your area They carry a nice alarm with remote start that ties into the factory Keyless Entry system I think they even use the DODGE remote
Car stereo/Alarms improve faster than CPU speeds I'm sure you'll find what you want Aftermarket!

I have a compustar alarm... top of the line system, and its super expensive, but top of the line. It has sensors in all the doors, rims, windows, ignition kill, command start, all sorts of stuff. Aftermarket has all sorts of great features. Like mine, if I say, want to run into the store for 10 minutes to grab something, and its cold or something like that, I can arm the alarm, leave it running, take the keys out, and if anyone shifts it out of park, ignition is killed, engines shut off, and alarm goes off. I can check on the vehicle at any time to see if the doors are open, lights are on, cars driving anway, doors unlocked, all sorts of stuff. And from up to a 1/4 mile away... its a great system.

Definately not worth it to hunt down a factory alarm.. Aftermarked is definately the way to go.. (Especially if you have the black key) Better price more options ( i.e. ) remote start, Power window rollup / down, etc.... Just make sure you go with a reputable brand. You dont want to wake up to an empty driveway someday...
