Default To all the turbo guys

....so, I have this EGR block off plate sitting on my dining room table. I've read a lot of arguements saying keep it...get rid of it and I'm still looking for why I should keep it or why I should get rid of it. I know about the getting the motor dirty and all that, I know about emmissions (none here), I know about fuel economy (we're turbo...come on?!), I know about knock (got that under control), I know about vacuum leaks. What other arguements are there about this "EGR" system? Is this thing just a trick gadget that will break and we'll have to pay up the wazoo to fix it while having only a little benefit to emmissions at all? Why am I even racking my head over this...I should just yank it out!
Opinions, suggestions, experiences welcome...just keep it civil.

Default RE: To all the turbo guys

EGR valve: Exhuast Gas Recirculation valve
Purpose: Reduce NOX.
Operation: Nox is caused by excessive cylinder temperatures. EGR reduces this by adding engine exhuast to the fuel mixture at most speeds other than idle.
Results: Dilute fuel mixture is cooler and has less power. Nox is reduced significantly.
EGR at idle is same as a vacuum leak and engine will run with severe miss or not idle at all. Can also cause cruise speed issues if one or more intake passages are clogged since all EGR then goes to ONE cylinder.

If no pinging exists and there is no emmisions or underhood check in your area then block it off, you get more power.
