Default Unplugging catalytic converter?

My catalytic converter on my 2003 neon sxt was clogged up so I basically took a metal rod and cleaned out all the guts and the car ran beautiful after that I drove about 16 miles and then my friend told me that I better get a new one or my valves will fry. Can anything bad happen to my car now because of what I did or is it fine?

Your check engine light come on and you will fail state emissions testing if done in your state/area.
No adverse damage will occur to the engine.

i don't know if your rings will fry but you wont pass emissions.
it may also effect your back pressure.
i would go to a local speed shop or on line summit,Jegs
and get a hi-Flo cat they should be around $100-110bucks
i used them on my 89 super coupe&88 Monte Carlo pass with flying colors

Your valves won't fry. That's an old myth. You will however throw a code sooner or later and your check engine light will come on. At that time your car will start running somewhat rich (and your gas mileage will take a dive), because the computer thinks something is up with your motor/converter.

As stated above, you won't be able to pass emssions either if they have it in your area. It's best that you get it replaced.
