I have a 2001 intrepid it has yet again is having problems less than a year after getting a new engine. My problem is I cant get out of gear, it is stuck in low. I was told to change the in/out speed sensors which I did but it is still doing the same thing. I found the codes on my odometer and they are p1684 and p0700 p0700 is listed as transmission control system malfunction? the other is speed control power relay or s/c 12v driver circuit. I took it to auto zone and they got codes p0605 and p0770 which my car says but the other is different, please someone help me to fix the right part instead of buying parts that dont need to be boght.

 

P0605 is listed as "internal TCM error"

I was unable to locate anything for P0770 at this time.

I believe P1684 has to do with the SKIM theft-deterrent system.

Possible issue with the transmission controller itself.

 

hey ken I took it into dodge here in salisbury nc, they told me what I knew that the trans control module needed to be replaced. So now Ihave them putting in a new one, but my question now is that will this fix the problem or it is like a sensor put a new one in and have it pop again because there is a more underlying problem within the tranny itself, and am I wasting my time like with the speed sensors? They got me nervous when they called back to say the part was on order but wanted me to know that it may not fix the problem? Oh by the way I must have typed wrong but the codes were p1684 which is battery disc. w/I 50 starts p0605 is internal control system malfunction and was p0700? thanks for your advice and I hope you may have more info would be great! I just spent 6000.00 on a jasper engine w/Install so I really want to keep her runnin you know? Well again thank you.
