6.1 hemi crate?
Is the 6.1 hemi going to be sold as a crate motor? I would like to put one in a Aussie Charger.Carby or fuel injected? Will it take much mods to hook it up to a 727 gearbox? Thanks for any replies-Fatman.[:@]
im not certain if it will bolt to a 727, but i think that the 6.1L will eventually be offered as a crate motor. i know that right now mopar is offering a carbed of fuel injected 5.7L on their site, but no 6.1L
It most likely would bolt to the 727 (not sure on the torque converter though), as long as it uses the same bellhousing pattern as the 5.7.....which uses the same pattern as the 318/360. The 727 would have to be a smallblock 727 though.
And the motor would almost certainly be fuel injected.

If you are interested in a 6.1 SRT-8 Hemi you may want to wait for the 6.3 “392” Hemi Crate motor. Lots more HP and the heritage of the 392 Hemi moniker.
Go to http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/news/re...emi-135429.php.
Here you will find a quick blurb on the 392 and another interesting crate motor choice for your Ozz hot rod. It is the new 440 crate small block. Talk about a monster bolt in. I think if I were you I would seriously consider this motor.
If you must go with the 6.1 go to http://www.thehemi.com/newhemiswap.php
Follow the link to Street & Performance. They have a pdf of their price list for a 6.1 SRT-8 motor and all the parts necessary for the swap.
And yes, you can run a 727 with all of these motors.
Cheers,
