car dies after about a 1/2 hr..let it sit an hr and it will run again for a 1/2 hr...please help

car dies after about a 1/2 hr..let it sit an hr and it will run again for a 1/2 hr...please help

I am new here and hope someone could help me. Ok let me start..My mother inlaw has a 90-91 dodge dynasty..with the 3.3 V6...just had some major work done to it..been in the shop a few times..don't know exactly what was done to it...but i quick look under the hood i notice it just recently had a tune up,front head gasket changed and i new water pump.
it was running fine week or 2..she stopped for gas and it started bucking on the way home..i figured maybe she got some water in the gas....picked up some stuff from pep boys put it in there and still to this day..been a couple months...it runs fine for about a 1/2 hr and then it starts bucking and then dies..and won't start...wait about an hr and it will start right up..run fine..for another 1/2 hr and die..i just found out thats she is still driving this car that way..and was wondering if anybody had any idea's on what this could be...
I thought maybe fuel pump...but why is it good for awile then not anymore? should i change it?
thermastat...to hot to start?
maybe an air pocket? how to get rid off it?
If no rain tommorrow i'm gonna go take a look at it and see if anything stands out to me...any idea's would be great!!!

My money is on the fuel pump. Sounds like it's overheating and then shutting down. Had that happen to me when I bought my truck down in Florida. It would get down to 1/2 tank and then start running rough, and eventually just shut down on the highway. Didn't figure out that it was the fuel pump until about Georgia. If I'd let it sit, it would run for a while after cooling down. Once I'd fill the tank up again it would run fine.
The pump in her car might be so bad that it's shutting down no matter what.
One thing you can check before the pump though is the fuel filter. I'm not sure if the Dynasty has an external filter or not, but if it does, it's cheaper/easier to replace than the pump.
