Default dakota transmission

I have a 95 Dakota 4X4 w/318 engine. There is an overdrive button on dash to engage/disengage overdrive. I drive with the button off or overdrive on. Lately while driving, transmission seems like it bucks or slips or something like that for juist a second. It happened yesterday while going up a hill where it felt like it just went into neutral for just a second and then engaged again. samething at a stop light. stepped on gas and nothing happened for 2 seconds then it slammed into gear. This is an automatic. I checked the fluid and it is bright red and full. What can it be? Is there a filter that could be plugged in the pan?

Default RE: dakota transmission

There is a fluid in the pan, but it's doubtful that a plugged filter would only cause a slight problem like this.

How many miles are on the truck?
