92 dodge shadow engine swap help!
I'm looking to swap my stock 2.5l non-turbo for something a little, well bigger. If anyone has any knowledge about what the biggest engine i could drop in without chopping too much, please let me know, any info on this would be greatly appreciated. You can contact me @ 92dodgeshadow@gmail.com
They came with the 3.0L V-6. When I borrowed my aunts LeBaron (basically the same as the shadow, a little differant) with the 3.0L, it ran pretty good (well, minus the 4-speed auto, and the fact that the engine was worn out...).
That motor puts out 141HP and 171lb*ft versus the 2.5L 100HP and 135lb*ft.
It was a pretty good fit into those engine compartments, I would not want to go much bigger than that.
Besides, if you get the 3.0L, it would probably work with the transmission you have right now, but if you went with a larger motor, I would guess there would be some extra work.

Agreed ^
The 3.0 came in a LOT of cars as well.
I went to the local you pull-it junkyard (it's quite small...maybe 100 cars) with my dad last week to look for an AC clutch off of a 2.2L for my mom's car, and all they had were acclaims/shadows/lebarons/cirrus' (about 10 of them total) with 3.0s. The AC on a 3.0 is not very accessible in a junkyard situation [:@] Ended up getting a clutch from a 3.5 Intrepid. My point is, the 3.0 motor is EASY to find!
They also had a COMPLETE running 4 banger Fiero out in the yard....I couldn't stop drooling. In fact, I may have to go back and ****** that one up. [8D]
