GMC Problem
Yea, I know, this ain't no GM board.
I just did a transmission service on my friends Dad's 2004 GMC Savanna 3500. It's got the 6.0L V-8 with the 4L80 tranny.
Dropped the pan, changed the filter and cleaned the magnet and pan, and reinstalled. (Everything looked good for 80,000 miles). Added fluid to get to FULL on the dipstick (w/o running the transmission, however).
Than, disconnected the tranny line TO the radiator. Attached a rubber hose to that, and aimed it in a bucket. Had a helper turn the motor on and I proceeded to pour in new fluid as old fluid came out. As soon as new fluid was coming out, had him kill the motor.
Than, reconnected everything, and checked the fluid level. Checked out good. With everything reconnected, turned the motor on (to put new fluid thru the lines and cooler) Checked fluid level again, and, again, good. Took it out for a drive, and first thing I noticed:
1.) When going into revese, it will sit for a second (and do nothing) and than "catch" and go.
2.) When going into drive, it will do the same thing. (However, with this, it tends to only do it when going from a dead stop after shifting from Park or Revese or Neutral to Drive, or, when taking off from a stop in Drive when you were stopped for a few seconds.)
It's got 80,000 miles on it, and its the first time it was serviced. Everything looked pretty good considering the mileage. (There was not much deposits on the magnet, and the fluid was dark, but, thats normal).
From a certain Chevy forum, someone had a similar problem, and it was the valve body.
Any ideas?
Thank ahead of time.
