Default P0406 Code

The check engine light has been coming on so I went to AutoZone where they read P0406 which is "The voltage signal EGR sensor "A" is too high for the current engine operating conditions". The van runs fine so should I worry about this? If so, can an average mechanial guy like nme fix it? I'm thinking I should replace the sensor first before checking the EGR valve.

Any help appreciated. BTW 2005 Caravan 3.3L V-6.

Its not a sensor.
start the car.
Check for 12volts and a ground at the egr solenoid connector.
if you have both, replace the egr valve. You should take your car to a dealer from now on.
Does anyone know of a forum similar to this one but for Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dealer techs only?

I have a 2005 dodge ram quad cab with 40k. I had the same problem with p0406 code. Dealer said this wasn't warranty. wanted about 450 to 500 to clean out egr valve. Flush out the carb in the system I was told. did some research and found out that you can take it out and clean it. but I decided to just buy a new one, about 60 at dealership. I am not a mechanic so it took me a while to find it. On my truck it was on top, back of the motor by intake. and once I bought the new one, I knew what to look for. Had to take the air box off to reach it better. It was hard to get to but I managed to replace it. afterwards, I took off neg cable to battery for a few seconds to reset code. so far three weeks and no light! Hopes this helps someone that has the same problem. these forums helped me out alot.
