need some info for my bud with an '88 buick
i know this probabally isnt the right place to put this, forgive me but.. my buddy is goin into the marines and he has a 1988 buick century with the 2.8L V6... he tore down the top half of the motor, bad head gaskets... but while doing so, the transmission dipstick came off and ATF was blowing out of it.... i wanna help the poor guy so i need to know how many quarts of fluid i need for that tranny and wheter the 2.8 came with a 3 speed or 4 speed... il ask him about that tomorrow but i need to know amount of ATF that has to be replenished with a regular pan drop and refil
The THM440 tranny uses 10.2 quarts of Dextron III. The same goes for the THM125. Both of these include the torque converter. If you only change the fluid and filter, then it's about 4 quarts. Remember, you'll need to top off as well after you change the fluid, so buy an extra quart or two.
