truck runs like crap
I have a 1999 dakota with 5.2 V8.
When I am driving and the speed climbs between 50-55 mph my engine skips and jumps. This happens when it first goes into overdrive. This has been going on for 20k. It's been to 2 dealers and they can't find anything wrong but when they drive it, they feel it. They replaced plugs, wires, sensors, you name it... Nothing fixes it. When they hook it to the computer it show no faults. What could it be?

Yep... Had that happen to me. Overdrive Controll solenoid. Probrably had something with an electrical short in the ETAX,(computer that controlls trans). Clutch pack and some other goofy junk will fix the prob. Have the ETAX Checked first, then go from there. Also Just read that someone was having similar problems and it turned out to be the Torque converter. Hopefully thats all that is wrong and will save you some $$
My 99 does the same thing. It also will do it with O/D off. Try with O/D off and let me know. I don't know if it's good news or not that someone else has the same trouble. My truck has been in the shop twice also and not repaired.
