Default running on battery

where do i start to look? i bought an 88 pick-up and my brother-in-law just put an altenator(275$) on it and the thing still runs until the battery dies. i was told the v. regulator but what does it look like on these trucks? i was a chevy truck guy before this d150. does it look the same as my 69 chevy did
? this truck was old bell or hydro truck. in good shape and has 3.9 engine. i have a good lead on another truck (long-box though) and it has V8. 360 i am told . but need to fix this problem 1st... new to dodges??????? and lost?!!!!

Check cables that run from the Alt. to the fuse box or battery. My girlfriends Jimmy had the same problem, a wire had coroded and just broke inside the insulation. Also, there should be a fuse for your alternator, check that and make sure it isn't blown.

It's the size of a small pack of smokes,but thinner .Most of the time it is mounted high on the firewall. It has a 2 pin plug that is only used on regulators.
