hey i need help my transmission is messed up all the shift gears work but the reverse ..people tell me is a switch i took it to a transmission shop but they want to charge me 1800 dls and what if is something so simple as aswitch..can anyone help?? i dont think i have to change the whole transmission when only the reverse wont work everything else works fine..help ..

 

Ok, so you say all forward gears work? and what year is the vehicle? give more information what car model? because its either elctronic shifted vehicle or its hydrualically controlled.. If its electronic it could be a shift solenoid thats gone bad or if its hydraulic it could be a rear band that doesnt hold for reverse.
