hey i have a 1986 dodge power ram 150 royal se series. i recently had the tranny rebuilt and after i put everything back together in the truck, i fired it up and put it in reverse and it worked fine. i put it in drive and nothing happens. it seems like its just not engaging because its not locking in and there is no noise like it is trying to. all i hear is the motor and exhaust. can anyone give me an idea of what is happening? it has a 727 tranny.

 

Whoever rebuilt the thing didn't rebuild it right. If the first gear doesn't engage front clutch drun isnt gettin transmission fluid to the drum piston for engaging first gear. The valve body could be at fault or the piston in the front drumdoesnt have a good seal or seals at all. All you can do is take it apart and go through it to find whats wrong.
