my guages have went on vacation
I am figuring that this is a pretty simple fix,but I am stumped.
I have a 2000 Ram Sport 5.9,auto trans.,2wd and my guage panel has stopped working. All the illumination still works, but no guages. I have checked the fuse panel, removed and checked every fuse, and replaced some of them just to be sure.
Is this a common occurence? Can anyone help?

i do not have much experience with Dodge, but recently aquired a 89 dodge colt vista and i had to tow over from in the neighborhood. a friend had taken a relay off under the hood , and when i put everything back i did not see it and it was upside down and i had strayed the area different times. when i got it started, there were no guages and none of the idiot lights except for the one that shows when a door is open. i discovered the relay (drivers side under the hood up against the firewall). it took a lot of investagative work. i did not have a shop manual and the regular books did not list that relay(just the ones in the relay box). well i opended it up, clean it in water, left it dry out, plugged it in, and viola! all the gauges and lights (idiot) worked. i never did find the name of it. may be something like: "general purpose relay". even the dealer could not help me with it when i called (over the phone) with the number.
so, there should be a relay that you may need.
(an import parts store here told me that dodge was not very good a keeping track of parts for their imports; but that does not apply in your case).

There is a flash update that fixes your problem
It's a common problem ..... unhook your battery for at least 15 seconds & your guages will work again
The flash will keep it from doing it again!!

I tried unhooking my battery, but nothing changed. I actually tried it twice - once for about 30 seconds and once for about 15 minutes.
I have checked every fuse under the hood and in the dash.
What single part controls the guages? It has not affected the cruise control,or the O/D control. Just the instrument panel.
When I first start it,the guages move slightly, but never come up. The odometer comes on for a few seconds, but then it "dings" and the odometer readout changes to what looks like "no buS". I cannot figure out what this means, but I am hoping it's no big deal.
