Whistling Noise at Certain RPM
Hello Everyone,
I was hoping someone may have had the same experience or can help in some way. The dealer obviously can't!
So, just recently (around december) my truck (2001 Dodge Dakota V6) starts whistling at 1900 and about 1500 RPMs. Very high pitched whistling that goes away when I hit the gas or brake and change RPM. I've taken it to the dealer and "it didn't do it long enough for them to find what the problem was". I could have told them it was going to be difficult to find because it only does it while the truck is in motion. It also seems to do it when it is colder out. I just got it in august so it is the first winter with me.
Now I hate to admit this part(I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem or not, I hope not)..but I was at an accident scene (on fire/rescue) and I got there in my truck, jumped out and FORGOT to put it in park. So it sat there for at least 45 minutes before anyone went to move it. (It was on the perfect incline so it never went anywhere) Would that have done anything, because the NEXT day it started doing the noise. Coincidence maybe?
I have taken it to the dealer, no luck, changed oil, tranny fluid, new air filter..no luck. If anything it's worse.
Please HELP! It is SO ANNOYING!
Thanks- Andrew

Mine does the same thing at certain speeds as well. What I noticed though is is does it when I have the vent selected(oncontrol dial). When I switch it to defrost or combo/defrost, it seems to go away. Kinda weird.
I suggest driving faster so you don't hear it...that's what I do.
