This car will repeat the good cold start and then stall as soon as the temp guage starts moving. It won't restart after that.
Spark goes away. Fuel pump runs right up to the point where the engine stalls. Smooth cold start and run. Gradually start to stumble
and gets progressively worse up to a death rattle and stall. This started when the car died on the road. Woudln't restart.
Had it towed home. No codes stored. No codes ever stored after a week. Changed crank sensor first. Wouldn't start.
Changed distributor. Rebuilt unit from Auto Zone. Car started and now I get the stall after 5 minutes and won't restart.
I've changed all the relays. It's not that. Measured resistance from coil tower to primary ASD lead coming into the distributor and it
was half the value the manual specifies. New distributor meets spec. My thinking if the resistance between secondary and primary was half the
spec value, the old distributor may have high voltage spiked the PCM. Could be engine is dying just when the sensors are starting to cut in like
the O2 sensor? I have a code reader and those sensors haven't cut in yet right up to the point where the engine dies. Using an inductive timing light, the light stops flashing intermittently as engine starts to die and goes away altogether when it finally dies. Any ideas?
