I posted this in the 2nd gen forum, but no luck....long story short, my transfer case keeps trying to shift into 4wd and grinds and pops, I had to drive 30miles at 10mph and below to get back home out of the mountains last night and the whole way I was trying to adjust the linkage but couldn't get it to stop. Any guesses on what it could be? I disconnected the vaccum lines to keep it from getting in 4wd, but the transfer case is giving me grief!

Truck has 180k miles and it is original NP431I believe, only other problem i've had before is having to turn the truck off to shift out of 4LO....any help would be greatly appreciated
