Trying to get better power and economy
Recent Ram owner here (had a '98 Dakota for 3 years and 60,000 miles). I'm considering a K&N F.I.P.K., TB spacer, and a single Flowmaster 40 Series single in/out turned out before right rear tire. I'm hoping for a few extra ponies and about 20 m.p.g. Will this help? I'd like to know before I spend $500+! Thanks in advance
$500 can certainly be an investment in both more power and a modest increase in fuel economy...but wait before spending that money.

but there are also several mods discussed
that also improve horsepower and torque:

Dang that was a lot of info!! Thanks for that, but I have decided to solve my problem by buying a beater. 1992 Toyota Corolla 4cyl. 5spd. 40 mpg..$800...ohh yeah!! (just an example). This will allow me to do the power adders, tires and suspension, without worrying about keeping a gas budget.
Your economic decision is a sound one
and will make your truck last longer
and be in better shape for the tough
hauling jobs it excels at.
When the engine or trans in the 'beater' dies
convert it to electric
drive it for awhile
then sell it at a profit to a mechanically impaired tree hugger.
