Need info on cutting the tailpipe

Default Need info on cutting the tailpipe

I have been told by several people that cutting or making the tailpipe shorter could have several benefits likea louder sound, slightly more HP, etc. I am not to sure about this. Does anyone have any benefits or suggestions. Could it damage the exhaust system which is a stock system or damage the engine?

depending on how far back you cut the exhaust, it will or will not affect it. my exhaust is conneted by flanges everwhere, so i just took from the muffler back, off. If you can disconnect it without cutting it, then it would be better to do it that way, so you can put it back on when it comes time for emissions and inspection.
