custom CAI
OK, here's the deal...
i am wanting to make a custom CAI but i need to know a few things:
1: what materials will i need besides piping?
2: what size pipng do i need?
3: once i have all the neccisary materials what steps are involved in making the CAI?
btw i have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT with a few engine mods and exhaust
thank you,
Jon
P.S. my friend has a pipe bending tool he uses to make CAI but he is currently out of town to ask him how t do it. however i DO have acces to the tool.

You can use either 3" or 2.5" piping. Aluminum is best, but you can use stainless or aluminized steel. You will also need the same size hose, hose clamps and a K & N cone race filter. I hope your tube bender does mandrel bends for maximum performance. You will need to decide where you can route your CAI and then take tons of measurements. You will also want to weld at least one flange on the pipe to mount it to the car to keep it from coming off. When the factory air box is removed there is a hole in the inner fender in which you can route the CAI through and there is a nut on a stud near this hole in which you can attach the flange to.
alright thanx man but one more question what is the best way to go about the censor port on the CAI? i mean, my car is newer so it has a ****load of censor and somehow i need to put an input for the censor... thnx again for the help.
Actually you don't. Most of the sensors are simply mounted to the outside of the air box for convience, I believe that there is only the one that actually mounts into the pipe and it is just an intake air temperature sensor that you can leave hang or tie up somewhere if you want (at least that's the way it is on the SRT-4's). Trying to make the fitting and finding a grommet to fit would be very difficult.
